  4. I think some reviews here are a bit unkind. Yes, it's true that this isn't in the pejorative sense a 'tribute' album. He does at times come off like he's doing an impersonation of AL Green. With that said, Jarreau can pull it off well. The arrangements are good and this is an enjoyable listen if you're open minded to the concept/5(6).

  8. Jarreau didn't use any imagination at all. He sang the songs exactly as they were first recorded -- in fact on mose of the cuts the original recording by Al Green was much better. In the future I won't buy Al Jarreau until I have listened to the entire CD and fall in love with each cut. He must have needed a payday and I got suckered in!/5(4).
